Roimata Kawakawa - Teardrop Pendant

The roimata embodies our emotions in times of joy, sadness, celebration and tribulation. Traditionally made from pounamu adzes or similar tools that were too worn down to be functional, they were gifted as a way of remembering the history and tūpuna (ancestors). They remind us of our humanity, and our ability to overcome adversity even when the path is spiritually difficult.
This Roimata was carved by Aaron Marshall from Kawakawa pounamu sourced from Arahura in Te Wai Pounamu, Aotearoa. It measures 48mm by 17mm, has a glossy finish, and is bound with an adjustable hand-braided polyester cord.
