Sands Jewellery House

With expertise and power the carver wields the adze. Relied on for survival in ancient times, traditional tools are imbued with significance and meaning. The toki epitomises the artistry and skill of the craftsman, protector and provider. Of great mana (prestige), to wield the toki is to wield strength.

This hei toki was carved by Sam Potter from pipiwharauro a chatoyant tangiwai pounamu sourced from Anita Bay in Piopiotahi (Milford Sound), and was capped with 9ct gold by our master jeweller, John Mayo. It measures 45mm by 20mm has a glossy finish and is hung on a gold-plated chain.
