Manu (bird) pendants are contemporary representations of the native birds of Aotearoa. Manu are suitable to be gifted to skilled singers, kaikorero (orators) or kaikaranga, or those whose personalities mirror the attributes of a particular bird. Birds are traditionally seen as messengers between the mortal and spiritual realm, and bearers of otherworldly knowledge.
This manu was carved by Jeremy Walsh from inanga pounamu sourced from Arahura of Te Wai Pounamu, Aotearoa, whakarei with unaunahi. It measures 60mm by 20mm, has a semi-gloss finish, and is bound with an adjustable hand-braided cord.
