Carve Your Own
Please read these terms before attending the workshop session
Workshop Sessions
- Carve Your Own workshop usually takes between 6 and 8 hours for a full day.
- Booking can be made online through our website. Each workshop can accommodate up to 6 participants.
- If you would like to book a group of more than 6 people, contact the Instructor Jeremy@0220659898 to discuss available options.

- Workshop prices vary depending on the product and size you choose to carve.

Before You Arrive
- As this is a hands-on workshop, we recommend bringing spare clothes in case you get wet.
- As you will be working with machinery during the workshop, please do not wear loose jewellery and ensure long hair is tied back properly.
- Please wear covered footwear.
- Make sure to trim your nails properly.
- For Hei Tiki and Manaia - Practice to draw the desired shape on paper with a pencil, and if possible, practice to carve on a soap bar.
Bring Your Own Stone
- You are welcome to bring your own stone, which may or may not incur a discount, as not all stones are suitable for carving.

If you wish to bring in your own stone to Carve Your Own, 10% discount is applied to the total cost.
Note: Stone with a high silica content (quartz, agate, aotea, etc.) is not allowed to be worked in the workshop due to its hardness.
Age Requirements
- Participants must be at least 12 years of age to attend a Carve Your Own workshop.
- All participants aged between 12 and 16 years must be accompanied by an adult during the workshop.
- Students with a valid Student ID are entitled to a 20% discount off the total cost.
Safety & Clothing
- For your safety, please do not wear loose jewellery while participating in the workshop.
- Long hair must be tied back securely before using any machinery.
- Covered footwear must be worn at all times during the workshop.
Liability
- By attending the workshop, participants agree to follow all safety instructions provided by the workshop supervisor.
- Sands Carving Studio is not responsible for any injury, loss or damage resulting from failure to follow safety instructions or workshop guidelines.
- Participants are responsible for any personal belongings brought to the workshop. Sands Carving Studio accepts no responsibility for lost, personal or damaged personal belongings.
Bookings & Cancellations
- To secure your Carve Your Own workshop booking, a $100 deposit is required. The total workshop cost will vary depending on the size and type of taonga you choose to carve.
- Bookings may be cancelled up to 24 hours before the scheduled workshop time. Deposits will be refundable in full for cancellations made within this timeframe.
- Cancellations made less than 24 hours before the workshop, or failure to attend the session, may result in the deposit being forfeited.
Studio Rights
- We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone who does not follow these terms or behaves in a way that disrupts the studio environment.
- We may take photos during the session for our own promotional use. If you would prefer not to be photographed, just let us know.
