Porotiti Raukaraka - Greenstone Spinning Disc

Sands Carving Studio

porotiti (also known as a kōrorohū) is a tradiotional Māori spinning disc instument used for healing, music and play. It is a part of the taonga pūoro (traditional musical instruments) family and is closely linked to Tāwhirimātea, the god of the wind.

This beautifully crafted porotiti was carved by Alex Sands from raukaraka pounamu sourced from Marsden of Te Wai Pounamu, Aotearoa. It measures 90mm by 40mm. Has a semi-gloss finish.
