Hei tiki represent the form of the first human. When worn, they provide a tangible link to the tūpuna (ancestors) that brought us into this world and guide us forward. Traditionally worn by Māori as ornaments of respect and status, they are a prestigious gift to be handed down as taonga (treasure) through the generations carrying the wisdom and mana of those who wore them previously.
Mau taringa are gifts for those we care for and, when worn, remind the wearer of those who gifted them.
This hei tiki wearing natural rind of the stone as korowai and tipare was carved by Alex Sands from Totoweka pounamu sourced from Big Bay of Te Wai Pounamu, Aotearoa. It measures 87mm by 66mm. Has a glossy finish, and is bound with an adjustable hand-braided cord.
This Hei Tiki is offered as a complete set and is accompanied by two matching pairs of pounamu earrings. The toki earrings measure 45mm x 15mm, while the drop earrings measure 26mm x 17mm.
