Niho Taniwha

Most commonly found on tāniko woven tukutuku panels of marae, niho taniwha are a triangular design comprised of many smaller triangle “teeth”. This repetitive pattern represents the stories and histories that whakapapa is beholden to, connecting lineage to mythology.
