Porotiti - Native Timber Spinning Disc

Sands Carving Studio

porotiti (also known as a kōrorohū) is a tradiotional Māori spinning disc instument used for healing, music and play. It is a part of the taonga pūoro (traditional musical instruments) family and is closely linked to Tāwhirimātea, the god of the wind.

This beautifully crafted porotiti was carved and crafted by Steven Fehoko using Black Maire of Aotearoa. It measures 140mm by 65mm.
